分析純化水管道的翻譯

在翻譯車間純化水管道工藝流程圖時發現管道一詞有太多選擇：
pipe，tube，pipeline，piping，tubing

咨詢了老外，得到下面的回答：
1)pipe-a tubular conduit for fluids or gases輸送液體或氣體的管狀管道
2)pipeline-a system of pipes for conveying liquids or gases輸送液體或氣體的管道系統
3)piping-the hollow tubes from which you construct pipelines or plumbing用來建造管道或管道的空心管
  b3 I- J7 m' H& V! l8 i& o4)tube&tubing-when you are speaking about hollow conduits, then pipe is to tube as piping is to tubing.the main difference being most people will assume tubing is flexible and piping is rigid當表達空心導管時，pipe等同于tube，piping等同于tubing，主要的區別在于大多數人傾向于認為tubing是軟管，而piping是硬管

由此可以排除pipe和tube，而在pipeline和piping中選，不過這里又出現一個問題，如果tube和tubing是軟管的話，那豈不是跟hose是一樣的?

最后根據FDA的一篇Guide to Inspections of High Purity Water Systems高純水系統檢查指南中的對純化水管道的翻譯，將純化水管道定稿為purified water piping.

piping在工業管道中用的多，很少用到tube這個詞。

下面是老外對hose和tube在表示軟管時的區分。大意就是hose表示外接的軟管，一頭固定在水龍頭等地方，在使用時一般用于固定搭配，如花園澆水用的軟管，空壓機管子等。
a hose is a type of flexible tubing attached to a tap. fluids or gases flow from the tap through the hose for use at a specific point, very often associated with agriculture- a water hose or a hose to spray chemicals

People would look at you a bit strangely if you walked into a garden center and asked for 100’ of tubing but they would know exactly what you meant if you said 100’ hose.

Hoses always come with some sort of coupling/attachment fittings on both ends. one end couples to a tap, the other end couples to a sprinkler, irrigation system, nozzle or other distribution device of some kind.
